STEM Entrepreneurship & Innovation Forums Coming this Fall

Eleven STEM Entrepreneurship & Innovation Forums will be held across the State of Ohio in October, November and early December, 2019, with additional Forums planned to be held during 2020 in Northeast Ohio and Southwest Ohio.

Are Ohio students prepared for their future? Attending a STEM Forum will help them prepare!  What today’s students will experience during their lifetimes is simply unimaginable. Their world will be marked by constant change:

  • Every product, service and aspect of life will change again and again.
  • Technology is dramatically changing the world they will live in: 3D printing, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, big data, alternative energy, advanced materials, robotics, biomedical advancements, automated vehicles, drones, and on and on.
  • Every job and career will either change with the times or go away.

“High school students attending a STEM Forum will participate in an extraordinary program that will open their eyes to the future, inspire them to ‘think outside the box’, and provide an opportunity to interact with entrepreneurial STEM researchers, entrepreneurs and practitioners who will discuss how their ideas and visions can shape the future,” stated Believe in Ohio Co-Director, Mike Woytek.

The following colleges and universities invite Ohio high school students to their campuses to help prepare them for their future:

  • As capacity is limited, registrations will be accepted as space is available.
  • Transportation subsidies of $100 are available to schools that bring 15 or more students.

About the Believe in Ohio program:
Believe in Ohio is a free, comprehensive, curriculum-based, STEM and entrepreneurship program for Ohio high school students. The program is designed to create a “Culture of Innovation” and to prepare students to meet the demands of a rapidly changing labor market by creating their own opportunities. Believe in Ohio was collaboratively developed by The Ohio Academy of Science and Entrepreneurial Engagement Ohio.

In addition to conducting STEM Entrepreneurship & Innovation Forums on college campuses across the state, Believe in Ohio provides a curriculum that allows students to explore their own areas of interest by learning how to commercialize solutions to problems or develop products through a STEM Commercialization Plan or a STEM Business Plan. This personalized experience allows students to teach themselves by understanding and valuing the necessary resources needed complete a project, including the proper background and training in the sciences and mathematics. While the Believe in Ohio program emphasizes the importance of STEM, it also encourages students to develop an entrepreneurial mindset to compete in today’s Innovation Economy.
