Deborah Hoover is Celebrated at Cleveland Botanical Garden Reception

On June 21, a crowd of approximately 200 convened at Cleveland Botanical Garden to honor Deb Hoover as her leadership of Burton D. Morgan Foundation neared its end.

Staff, board, family, friends and colleagues came out in droves on a hot sunny evening to thank Deb for her outstanding leadership, mentorship and friendship.  Deb’s tireless efforts and undeniable impact on Northeast Ohio’s entrepreneurial ecosystem were repeatedly applauded by both guests and speakers, including Eddie Taylor, Foundation board member and President of Taylor Oswald; Ray Leach, CEO of JumpStart; Greg Malkin, President of Model Landmarks and former Young Entrepreneur Institute Executive Director; and Christine Mayer, President of GAR Foundation.

In her videotaped message, Christine Mayer describes Deb perfectly.  “I don’t know if I’ve ever met a person who is as willing as Deb is to roll up her sleeves, read, listen, ask questions, do the homework, learn and grow.  She truly loves learning.  The woman picked up an advanced degree in art history while running a foundation full time, for goodness’ sake.  Diving into the work was her way when she was a Program Officer at GAR Foundation and it has continued to be her way of working as the President and CEO of Burton D. Morgan.”

Morgan Foundation Staff and Trustees warmly thank Deb and wish her well as she takes on her next role as CEO of Entrepreneurship Education Consortium.
