New Research Shows Long-Term Impact of Scalerator NEO

Now in its 10th year in Northeast Ohio, Scalerator NEO is a seven-month, cohort-based program that brings CEOs/owners and leadership teams together for an intensive growth experience focused on the 3 Cs: Customers, Capacity and Cash. Through faculty-led sessions, peer learning and practical application, participating companies systematically identify and overcome the barriers that can limit growth. Over that time, the program has built a strong track record of helping companies pursue sustainable growth.

New research on the program shows that its impact continues well beyond the seven-month program.

Five years later, Scalerator companies are still pulling ahead.

An independent study conducted by Dr. Shawn Rohlin of Kent State University examined the performance of Scalerator NEO companies over time and compared them with comparable Ohio businesses. The research found that five years after completing Scalerator NEO, participating companies achieved the following gains compared with similar businesses:

  • 43 percentage points higher employment growth
  • 23 percentage points higher sales growth

The impact extends beyond the participating companies themselves. The same study estimates that the growth associated with Scalerator NEO has supported an estimated 2,830 jobs and generated nearly $178 million in economic activity across Ohio.

These findings reinforce what Scalerator NEO is designed to do: help established businesses build the strategies, capacity and leadership needed for sustained growth. The new research provides compelling evidence that those efforts can translate into meaningful long-term results.

Experienced faculty. Practical application.

Scalerator was founded by Dr. Daniel Isenberg, former Harvard and Columbia entrepreneurship professor and investor, who is a globally recognized authority on entrepreneurship and business growth. He is joined by a faculty team with decades of experience growing companies and teaching entrepreneurship at Harvard and Babson. Through interactive sessions, candid feedback and practical assignments, faculty help leadership teams apply new approaches directly to their own businesses.

Who should apply?

Scalerator NEO is designed for growth-minded Northeast Ohio companies across all industries with approximately $3 million to $15 million in annual revenue and 20 to 200 employees. Ideal candidates have the potential to grow through repeatable, sustainable strategies and are prepared to engage both the CEO or president and key members of the leadership team.

Scalerator NEO is administered by MAGNET and fully funded by Burton D. Morgan Foundation with support from the Fasenmyer Fund, making the program available at no cost to participating companies.
