Startup Vikes 2018

Since 2014, Cleveland State University has helped thirteen teams launch businesses through Startup Vikes.  Held over three days, Startup Vikes teaches students how to launch a business through lean startup methodologies, a series of informative workshops, and the assistance of mentors.

A total of 14 teams and close to 100 students from Cleveland State University, Case Western Reserve University, College of Wooster, and Tiffin University competed in Startup Vikes 2018.  At the end of the weekend, the teams came together to pitch their business concepts to a panel of six judges.  The 2018 winners included:

1st place – ReCap, which seeks to develop a way to ensure patients are compliant with their physical therapy orders. ReCap will entail wearable clothing that can transmit data to physicians and physical therapists. ($2,000)

2nd place – Garage Founder, which seeks to connect entrepreneurs and startups to commercial real estate that meets their needs. ($1,000)

3rd place – InSpirit, which will provide a medical device that can detect dehydration in nursing home patients. ($500)

Congratulations to all of the participants of Startup Vikes 2018!
