Welcome to "Morgan Entrepreneur Spotlight," our monthly-ish showcase where we shine a light on Northeast Ohio's entrepreneurial superstars. Each feature delves into the journeys of individuals who have participated in our programs and are harnessing their learnings to fuel impressive growth and innovation.
Mohammed (Mo) Abouelsoud is the Founder and CEO of U: The Mind Company. Mo provides entrepreneurship education and experiences for K-12 youth via the YIPPEE Exchange platform that teach them about entrepreneurship, neuroscience, and innovation.
Tell us about your business.
“U: The Mind Company is pioneering the future of neurological treatment through AI-powered, non-invasive brain stimulation technologies. We're developing breakthrough medical devices specifically designed to treat Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's, and other neurological conditions using our proprietary amplitude-modulated transcranial pulsed random noise stimulation (am-tPRNS) technology.
Our flagship product, Sphere V3.0, represents a revolutionary approach to neurological care, offering patients a safe, effective alternative to invasive procedures and heavy pharmaceutical interventions. With over 25,000 hours of recorded clinical data and promising results showing up to 80% tremor reduction in Parkinson's patients, we're positioned to transform how neurological conditions are treated globally. Based in Cleveland, Ohio, our mission is to make advanced neurological care accessible worldwide through innovative, portable devices that can be used safely at home under healthcare provider oversight.”
Can you share how being a provider on YIPPEE Exchange influenced or supported the growth of your business?
“Being a YIPPEE Exchange provider has allowed us to develop our educational programs and refine our communication skills, which directly benefits our business development. Creating content for K-12 audiences has helped us become better at explaining complex neurotechnology concepts in accessible ways—a skill that's crucial when presenting to investors, healthcare providers, and patients.
The platform has also enhanced our community presence and brand recognition, positioning us as thought leaders who care about education and giving back. This community engagement has opened doors to local partnerships and networking opportunities that support our overall growth strategy.
As a YIPPEE Exchange provider, I've been able to leverage the platform to give back to the community through educational presentations at local schools. Through YIPPEE, I've developed programs like "From Neurons to Startups: A Neuroscience CEO's Guide to Entrepreneurial Success," which allows me to engage with K-12 students and teach them about entrepreneurship, neuroscience, and innovation.
The platform has enabled meaningful community engagement—I've worked with Orange City Schools, including presentations at Moreland Hills Elementary and Orange High School, where I help students understand brain function while inspiring entrepreneurial thinking. This community outreach aligns perfectly with our mission and the Morgan Foundation's values of strengthening free enterprise by investing in people.”
What has been the most unexpected challenge you've faced in growing your business, and how did you navigate it?
“The most unexpected challenge has been raising capital in the medical device space. While we anticipated technical and regulatory hurdles, the complexity of communicating our breakthrough neurotechnology to potential investors who may not fully understand the science has been more challenging than expected.
We've navigated this by building a comprehensive data package with over 25,000 hours of clinical validation, developing clear value propositions that translate scientific achievements into business outcomes, and assembling an advisory board of respected neurologists who can validate our technology. We've also focused on building relationships with investors who have experience in the medical device sector and understand the regulatory pathway we're pursuing.”
What are some of your goals for the next twelve months?
“A few of our goals are:
Complete USA Clinical Trials: Finalize our clinical validation studies here in the United States to support our FDA De Novo submission with robust domestic data.
Secure Phase 2 Funding: Successfully complete our Phase 2 Regulation CF funding round of $5M to fuel our regulatory approval process and operational scaling.
FDA Submission: Submit our FDA De Novo application for the Sphere V3.0 device, positioning us as the first non-invasive tES device specifically designed for Parkinson's Disease treatment.”
What is your vision for your business in five years?
“By 2030, I envision U: The Mind Company as the global leader in AI-powered neurotechnology, having transformed millions of lives affected by neurological disorders. We'll operate integrated healthcare delivery systems across multiple countries, with our technology serving as the standard of care for non-invasive neurological treatment.
Our comprehensive health intelligence platform will extend beyond brain stimulation to include AI-EEG analysis, digital therapeutics, and predictive healthcare solutions. We'll have established regional subsidiaries across multiple continents, achieved sustainable profitability, and be preparing for the next phase of growth as a leader in the neurotechnology sector. Most importantly, we'll have made advanced neurological care accessible to underserved populations globally through our Circle of Hope humanitarian initiatives.”
What is your favorite quote?
“The best way to predict the future is to create it." - Peter Drucker. This quote embodies our approach at U: The Mind Company—we're not just adapting to the future of healthcare, we're actively building it through innovation, determination, and a commitment to improving lives.”
What is the last book you read?
"Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell. This book resonated deeply with our mission at U: The Mind Company, as it explores how extraordinary success comes from the right combination of opportunity, hard work, and environmental factors—much like how breakthrough medical devices require the convergence of scientific innovation, regulatory timing, and market readiness.”
What advice do you have for budding entrepreneurs?
“Focus, focus, focus, focus. The compound effect of consistent daily habits will always outweigh sporadic bursts of activity. Don't try to do everything at once—identify the one or two things that matter most for your business and execute them with excellence.
Build your advisory network early and listen deeply. Surround yourself with people who have complementary expertise and aren't afraid to challenge your assumptions. Most importantly, stay resilient and maintain your core values—the entrepreneurial journey will test both your business model and your character. Remember that success is not a goal, it's part of the process.”
How do you define success?
“Success is measured by the number of lives we transform. While financial metrics and business milestones matter, true success for U: The Mind Company is seeing a Parkinson's patient regain confidence in their daily activities, watching tremors reduce, and knowing we've provided hope where traditional treatments fell short.
Success is also about building a sustainable, ethical business that creates value for all stakeholders—patients, healthcare providers, investors, employees, and communities. It's about proving that you can do well financially while doing good in the world, and establishing a company culture that embodies our core values: FOCUSED, PUNCTUAL, ENERGETIC, RESILIENT, and CONFIDENT.”
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
“U: The Mind Company represents more than just a medical device company—we're part of a movement to democratize access to advanced healthcare technology. Our Circle of Hope initiative in Africa, India, and other underserved regions demonstrates that innovation and humanitarian impact can coexist.
I'm particularly proud that we've achieved clinical validation across diverse global populations while maintaining the highest safety standards. With zero serious adverse events across 25,000+ hours of device use, we're proving that non-invasive neurotechnology can be both effective and safe.
We're excited about the future and grateful for the support of organizations like the Morgan Foundation that understand the importance of backing entrepreneurs who are tackling society's biggest challenges.”
