Burton D. Morgan Foundation has announced the creation of the Sopko Advocate Program, a community-wide initiative honoring the late Bob Sopko (1960–2024), an accomplished entrepreneur and longtime program director of the Foundation-funded LaunchNET entrepreneurship program at Case Western Reserve University. Bob dedicated his life to helping founders succeed and building bridges across Northeast Ohio’s entrepreneurial community.

Respected and beloved across the region and beyond, Bob was a familiar face to countless entrepreneurs, students, and colleagues. His generosity and energy left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him. Following his passing in December 2024, colleagues and friends sought a meaningful way to carry his spirit forward. Working closely with a small group of passionate entrepreneurs - and with the support and input of Bob’s family – Morgan Foundation shaped the Sopko Advocate Program as a living tribute, ensuring it reflects his spirit, values, and contributions. Community members are invited to take the Sopko Pledge - a commitment to show up for others in the entrepreneurial community with generosity, kindness, and openheartedness.

Participants who take the pledge become Sopko Advocates and are recognized with a Sopko Pin and a digital badge, signaling to others that they are a supportive and approachable presence at events and within the community. Together, these symbols ensure that Bob’s legacy of encouragement and connection continues to be felt. The program also reflects the enduring values of Burton D. Morgan Foundation and stands as the kind of initiative our founder, Burt Morgan, would have championed.

The program officially launched on September 29. The foundation is grateful to the Sopko family for their blessing and support in bringing this program to life.
