Akron Library Hosts Pitch Competition

The Akron-Summit County Public Library’s StartUp Akron Pitch Competition took place on May 17th at the library's main branch in downtown Akron.  Eleven individuals were selected to pitch from 54 applicants.

Aparna Agrawl and Isaiah Kaiser took first place ($3,000) for Auxilium Health, Inc.  Their wound care product can reduce severe wound infections by 80%, leading to 60% faster healing for patients while saving time and money for wound-care physicians.

Second place ($1,500) went to Lawrence Jackson of YourSource LLC.  Jackson has a press freedom news app that enables a user to receive custom news from media outlets across the US and around the world.

Saarah Na'Allah was awarded third place ($500) for Mwalimu Saarah LLC, which has a culturally affirming e-Learning and consulting platform, and offers consultation services, webinars, and programs to parents and educational organizations and leaders.

The winners will be sitting on an entrepreneurial panel at the Library's Kenmore branch on November 30.  They will also receive a commendation from Secretary of State Frank LaRose and from Congresswoman Emilia Sykes' office.

Congratulations to all of the winners!
