Hiram College

The new East Hall at Hiram houses the Burton D. Morgan Entrepreneurship Center (The Forum, classroom, offices and incubator), along with residential suites where entrepreneurship students live and socialize to advance their ideas. The residence hall also offers an apartment for visiting Entrepreneurs-in-Residence. The East Hall Lounge features a resource center and meeting area for entrepreneurship students.

Hiram President Thomas Chema observed that “in its first year of operation, the Center has quickly become the hub for entrepreneurial activity—curricular and co-curricular. Of course, all of the Entrepreneurship minor courses are taught at the Center, as well as many of the newly created and revised courses integrating entrepreneurship. The Center’s lounge area is the perfect area for the weekly Fireside Chat series that was developed by our Entrepreneur-in Residence.”

President Chema added that “the Center is not only a place where our students learn about entrepreneurship. It has been instrumental in getting many of our faculty to think differently about teaching and learning – to ‘think out of the box.’ The Forum’s technology capabilities have encouraged faculty across all disciplines to think creatively, to be innovative, to be entrepreneurial.” He concluded that “the Center has given the Integrated Entrepreneurship program a physical presence on campus, and as the program has grown, it has increased campus awareness of the program and raised visibility with prospective students.”
