The College of Wooster

Dedicated in 2002, Burton D. Morgan Hall is located at the heart of The College of Wooster campus and houses the departments of Psychology, Education, and Economics and the Information Technology Center. The building was designed by the architectural firm of Perry Dean Rogers of Boston. Mr. Morgan attended the ceremony for the laying of the cornerstone on October 19, 2001, and signed his name to a girder that was hoisted into place as guests applauded. After Wooster received its NEOCEP grant from the Morgan and Kauffman foundations in 2006, the Entrepreneurship Center was established on the third floor with office space and a resource center.

Wooster President Grant Cornwell wrote, “At the time of Morgan Hall’s construction, it was believed that locating the departments of Economics, Education and Psychology in close proximity to one another and to IT would provide exciting new opportunities for teaching students to think creatively and independently. The theory has proved to be true.” He went on to say, “Because of the Center’s activities, our students, staff, and community members have come to identify Morgan Hall with entrepreneurship. In an increasingly complex global society, the ability to integrate concepts, knowledge, and skills from the subject areas represented in Morgan Hall are invaluable as we prepare our students to thrive in the world of work.”
