About the Foundation

Baldwin House

The Baldwin House (c.1832) is the birthplace of Caroline Baldwin Babcock, founder of the Hudson Library & Historical Society. Located on the northeast corner of the Hudson Green, the house underwent extensive interior and exterior renovations in 2006 after the Foundation purchased the property. The outside has been painted pale yellow with cream trim, green shutters, and a cedar shake roof.

The first floor interior has been transformed into a welcoming office space for the Hudson Community Foundation. In recent summers, the front porch served as a stage for historical reenactments of the Baldwin story. The second floor, accessed by the original staircase, provides needed office space for Hudson Community First, Hudson Job Search, and Hudson Heritage Association.

The pocket garden between the two buildings features a brick walkway, three-tiered fountain, and stone benches enclosed by an antique (repurposed) wrought iron fence. In 2011, the garden was featured on the Hudson Home & Garden Tour.
