NEOCEP

The Morgan-Kauffman Northeast Ohio Collegiate Entrepreneurship Program (NEOCEP) is a component of the Kauffman CampusesSM Initiative (KCI), which was launched in 2003 by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation of Kansas City, Missouri. KCI is now breeding cross-campus entrepreneurship education on 19 higher education campuses across the country. KCI colleges and universities weave entrepreneurship into the fabric of the institution and work to develop the entrepreneurial mindset in students and faculty from all disciplines.

In 2006, The Burton D. Morgan Foundation entered into a collaboration with the Kauffman Foundation to explore cross-campus entrepreneurship education on the liberal arts campus. Through an RFP process, the foundations selected five liberal arts campuses in Northeast Ohio to participate in NEOCEP: Baldwin-Wallace College, Hiram College, Lake Erie College, Oberlin College and The College of Wooster. NEOCEP is supported by grants from the two foundations totalling $6.6 million over five years. The NEOCEP campuses are proving to be fertile ground for the spread of entrepreneurship with many student-run businesses already underway. The foundations are engaging in an in-depth evaluation process with a goal of sharing the results widely.
